Omaha Closes Non-Conference Play at UNLV

The Basics
Omaha closes non-conference at UNLV Wednesday night. Tipoff between the Mavericks and Rebels is set for 9 p.m. CT. Omaha looks to close the first half of its schedule with its first win since the season opener. UNLV has won its last two games and looks to pick up another two this week before opening league play.

Quick Hits
Darrius Hughes is on a three-game double figure scoring streak following a career and game-high 19 points vs. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. He was 6-of-9 from the field and finished with seven boards, which was just one shy of his career-high.
• Hughes tied his career-high 15 points vs. the Bulldogs. He shot 70 percent from the field and grabbed six rebounds. Against Eastern Washington, Hughes tallied 12 points.
• Lemetti  notched double-figure performances in two straight games. He scored a career-high 14 points on 5-of-12 from the field vs. Drake. Four of his made field goals were from long range. He also tallied a career-high six rebounds. Lemetti then added 11 points vs. the Islanders.
Akol Arop posted a career-night vs. the Islanders with 10 points and six boards. Both surpassed his previous highs set with Nebraska. Arop dished out two assists in the action.
• Poor Bear-Chandler fell short of a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds vs. Drake. Both were new personal bests.
Nick Ferrarini led the Mavericks with a career-high 23 point vs. EWU. He was 8-of-14 from the field with three three-pointers. He followed up his career day with another 12 points vs. Drake. 
Marco Smith also scored a career-high with 11 points vs. Eastern Washington. Frankie Fidler and Darrius Hughes tallied double-figures with 12 points each.
• Omaha scored the most first-half points it has seen all season with 46 points. Ferrarini already had 10 at the half.
• The Mavericks tried their third starting lineup of the year vs. Eastern Washington. Darrius Hughes and Felix Lemetti stayed in the rotation, while Kyle Luedtke, Devin Evans, and Marco Smith got the nod over the weekend.
• Luedtke scored a career-high 21 points vs. SIUE despite the 75-65 loss to the Cougars. He was 6-of-9 from the field and 6-of-9 from the line. He hit three from long range.
• Head coach Derrin Hansen enters his 17th season at the helm. He has a 249-244 career record leading the Mavericks.
• The 2021-22 season is the 109th overall in program history and the 11th of the Mavericks' Division I era. All-time, the program is 1,203-1,229.

Scouting the UNLV Rebels
The Rebels are 6-5 heading into the week after picking up wins in their last two games. UNLV beat Hartford and Seattle University in a pair of games last week. The Rebels downed Hartford, 95-78, behind a 33 points from Bryce Hamilton and 32 points from Donovan Williams. Williams was 10-of-12 from the field, while Hamilton was 12-of-21 with four three pointers.

Hamilton leads the team averaging 17.8 points per game this season. He's scored 10 or more points in all but one game this season and on a five-game streak of double-figure performances. In addition to the 33 he scored vs. Hartford, he recorded 18 points vs. Seattle U, 23 points vs. San Francisco, 12 points vs. SMU, and 15 vs. UCLA in the streak.

Kevin Kruger is the head coach of the Rebels. He is in his first season at the helm. Prior to his head coaching role, Kruger served as an assistant with the program starting in April 2019.

All-Time Against UNLV
The Rebels hold a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series. They took a 73-70 win in the 2013-14 season.
