For the fourth time this season, Omaha's
Isaiah Saville has been named the NCHC Goalie of the Week.
The junior from Anchorage, Alaska, made a season-high 41 saves as the No. 14 Mavericks blanked No. 4 Western Michigan 1-0 in Kalamazoo, Mich., Saturday in the final game of season's first half. Omaha coach
Mike Gabinet called the performance the best of Saville's collegiate career to date after the game.
Saville also gave the Mavericks a chance to rally from a 3-0 deficit on Friday after the Broncos had scored goals off a turnover, on a penalty shot and during a power play in the first 21 minutes. He made 17 saves while keeping Western Michigan scoreless over the final 39 minutes as Omaha fought back.
He finished the weekend with 65 total saves and a .956 save percentage.
This is the fifth time in his career that Saville has earned the NCHC's weekly honor. Three of the other four came in the first month of the season while he was on a career-best six-game winning streak.
Saville earned the first weekly award this season after shutting out Lake Superior State in the opening series. His second honor came after winning a pair of home games against Alaska. And the third was following a 6-0 shutout of Long Island that dropped his goals-against average to 1.55 at the time.
At the break, Saville boasts a 9-4 record, a 2.12 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
