Mavericks Take Down the Bison, 3-0

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks started its last home stretch with a three-set win against North Dakota State. Omaha was a dominant force on defense holding the Bison to a -.020 hitting percentage. Jaiden Centeno notched a career high seven aces over the three sets.   

The Mavericks improve to 15-8 overall and 12-1 in the Summit League.
 
 
How It Happened
  • Set one started with a point going to the Bison, but Omaha responded with two kills in a row coming from Limback and Ruch. The game went back and forth until it was tied 7-7. Omaha then went for a three-point run with kills from Marriah Buss and McKenna Ruch followed by an ace from Jaiden Centeno. The Mavericks continued to hold the lead with a strong offensive, putting the game to 18-12. Omaha only allowed North Dakota State to score four points the rest of the set. With a kill from Buss, the Mavericks took the first set 25-16.
  • Set two started with four kills from the Mavericks. North Dakota State put up a point but Omaha continued the game with four more kills putting them in 8-1 lead. With five attack errors in a row from the Bison, the Mavericks extended the lead to 15-5. Limback and Ruch went back and forth with the kills until Omaha led 22-9. The match ended with kills from Shayla McCormick and Rylee Marshall. Omaha takes the second set 25-12.
  • An ace from Sami Clarkson started the third set. Kills from Limback, McCormick and Marshall helped put the Mavericks up 8-2. Omaha stayed dominant on defense with big blocks from Marshall pushing the lead to 13-5. The Mavericks took complete control of the game with a lead of 17-7. Jaiden Centeno went back to the line and served three straight aces to push Omaha to 20 points. The Mavericks held the Bison to 10 points and took set three 25-10.

  • Jaiden Centeno notched a career high seven aces while adding 14 digs.
  • Ruch held a .769 hitting percentage with 10 kills on the night.
  • Clarkson recorded 35 assists and added three kills.
  • Marshall led the team with six blocks and added six kills.
  • McCormick tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.  

Up Next
Omaha will have their last home match of the season on Saturday. They are set to play North Dakota at 12 p.m. in Baxter Arena. Omaha will be honoring its four seniors prior to the match.
