No. 3 Omaha Prepares for No. 2 South Dakota State

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks clinched the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Tournament last weekend with a 1-0 shutout vs. South Dakota. Omaha will open postseason action with No. 2 South Dakota State in the semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 4. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT at Denver. While No. 1 Denver and No. 4 South Dakota meet in the first semifinal match at 2 p.m. CT.

The winners will advance to the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. CT.

Quick Kicks
• The Mavericks punched their Summit League Tournament ticket for the second straight year and third time under head coach Tim Walters last weekend with a win vs. South Dakota on Senior Day.
Sophia Green scored the game winner in the 63rd minute helping Omaha to its ninth shutout of the year. Green extended her scoring streak to four consecutive matches. It's the longest scoring streak in the Division I era of the program and longest since the 2009 season when Jerica Kuncl scored in four straight.
• Green also became the Division I leader in game winners. She has seven in her career, which includes four this season.
• Omaha's nine wins marks the most wins in a single season since the Division I transition.
• Omaha had five players earn all-league honors Wednesday morning. Margaret LaVigne was tabbed First Team All-Summit for the second straight season. It also marked the third all-league honor for the senior defender.
Grace Ostergaard was named Second Team All-Summit for the second consecutive season, while Sena Ahovissi, Cece Behrens, and Rachel Thigpen were selected to the All-Newcomer Team.

Scouting the South Dakota State Jackrabbits
The Jackrabbits finished the regular season 15-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in league play for a second place finish. They finished 9-0-0 at home with all their losses and one draw coming on the road. SDSU's two league losses were to South Dakota (2-1) and Denver (2-0). The Jackrabbits earned two major awards in the Goalkeeper and Newcomer of the Year. Nine Jackrabbits earned all-league honors.

Jackrabbits to Watch
• Maya Hansen was named First Team All-Summit. She leads the Jackrabbits and is second in the league with 13 goals this year. She adds four assists. Hansen also led SDSU with 51 shots in the regular season.
• Avery Murdzek adds 19 points for SDSU. She has six goals and seven assists. Her seven assists ranks third in the league. She was tabbed Second Team All-Summit.
• Jocelyn Tanner was named the Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year. She made 15 starts in goal and posted eight shutouts. Tanner has a .72 goals against average, a .833 save percentage and 55 saves this season.

Series History
The all-time series sits at 7-7-4 after last week's loss to the Jackrabbits. Sophia Green scored in the 26th minute for a 1-0 edge at the halftime break. SDSU netted two in the second to earn the win. Omaha and SDSU met last season in the semifinals. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and the Mavericks advanced on penalty kicks, 3-1.
