The Omaha women's basketball team continues its season opening five-game road trip Monday night in Chicago, Illinois against the UIC Flames, with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Jon Schriner will have the radio call on 1180 The Zone. Quick Hits

• Last time out the Mavericks fell 59-45 in Ogden, Utah against the Weber State Wildcats. Natalie Bartle led the Mavericks in scoring for the second straight contest with 14 points off the bench to go along with her team-high eight rebounds. It was also her second straight game in double-digits.

Mariah Murdie finished with 11 points against Weber State, the senior has scored in double-digits in three out the four Mavericks games and leads the team in points, rebounds, assists and blocks.

Grace Cave made the first start of her collegiate career against Weber State, it was the first lineup change for the Mavericks after trotting out the same starting five in their first three games.

• The Mavericks return four starters from last season's squad but have several new faces for the 2021-22 season including five freshman and two  junior transfers.

• Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and  advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.

Scouting the UIC Flames

• UIC is coming off their first victory of the young season, a  68-64 victory at home against Valparaiso, after falling in contests with Northwestern, Purdue Fort Wayne and Cleveland State on the road. The Flames are led in scoring by sophomore Jaida McCloud, who is averaging just over 17 points-per-game this season.

• Head coach Tasha Pointer is in her fourth season at the helm of the UIC program. The Flames finished 3-16 last season and were picked to finish 10th in the 2021-22 Horizon League preseason poll.

All-Time Against UIC

This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.

The Mavericks will finally be back at Baxter Arena for their home opener Thursday against Tennessee State with tip-off slated for Noon. They will then continue their busy week on Sunday at home against Saint Mary at 2 p.m.
