Ogden, UT. – The Omaha women's basketball team fell to Weber State Sunday afternoon 59-45 in Ogden, Utah.
Leaders For Omaha
Natalie Bartle led the Mavericks in scoring for the second straight game with 14 points off the bench, she also hauled in a team-high eight rebounds.
Mariah Murdie joined her in double-digits with 11 points, her third double-digit scoring game this season. Murdie also chipped in seven rebounds and three assists.
Leaders for Weber State
Emma Torbert led the Wildcats with 16 points to go along with eight rebounds and three steals. Daryn Hickock chipped in 11 points and six rebounds while Jadyn Mathews hauled in a team-high 13 rebounds in her 26 minutes of action.
Team Stats
The Mavericks shot 30.4 percent (17-56) from the field to the Wildcats 39.7 percent (23-58). Weber State drained seven shots from beyond the arc and outrebounded the Mavericks 46-30. Omaha was feisty on the defensive end forcing 24 turnovers.
Inside the First Quarter
Grace Cave drained an early three in her first start in a Mavericks uniform to give them a 7-5 lead with 7:06 left in the quarter. Weber State then went on 11-0 run behind some stellar long-range shooting including three shots from deep to take a 16-7 lead, they would take an 18-13 lead into the second.
Inside the Second Quarter
Omaha came out firing in the second quarter starting the period on a 12-2 run capped off by a Bartle three. Neither team would score in the final three minutes of the half and Omaha took a 27-24 lead into the break.
Inside the Third Quarter
After some back and forth buckets, Weber State was able to pull away from the Mavericks, ending the quarter on a 17-3 run to take a comfortable 45-32 lead into the final period.
Inside the Fourth Quarter
Bartle started the fourth with back-to-back buckets for the Mavericks to cut the deficit to 47-36. Both teams would trade baskets the rest of the way with Weber State taking the 59-45 victory.
