The Omaha women's basketball team continues its season opening five-game road trip Wednesday night in Lawrence, Kansas against the Kansas Jayhawks, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. The Mavericks are coming off a hard-fought 71-51 loss to cross-town Creighton. Freshman Alexis Pratt scored nine points in the contest to lead Omaha - the most in a game of her young Maverick career.

- Omaha faced off against the cross-town Creighton Bluejays Saturday falling 71-51. Freshman Alexis Pratt scored a career-high nine points to lead the Mavericks, while Natalie Bartle and Elena Pilakouta both chipped in seven.

- The Mavericks return four starters from last season's squad but have several new faces for the 2021-22 season including five freshman and two junior transfers.
- Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.
- Head coach Carrie Banks is in her second season at the helm of the Maverick program.
Scouting the Kansas Jayhawks
The Jayhawks have started 2-0 for the fifth consecutive season after victories over SIUE and Tennessee State. Aniya Thomas leads the team in scoring with 22 points-per-game, she scored 25 points on an efficient 9-of-16 shooting to lead Kansas against SIUE. Zakiyah Franklin has kicked in 12 points and 5.5 assists a game in the Jayhawks two contest on a team-high 28.5 minutes-per-game.
Head coach Brandon Schneider is in his seventh season at the helm of the Kansas program. The Jayhawks finished 7-18 last season and were picked to finish 10th in the 2021-22 Big 12 preseason poll.

Wednesday's matchup marks the 9th all-time meeting between Omaha and Kansas. The Jayhawks lead the all-time series over the Mavericks, 5-3. The Jayhawks won the last meeting between the two teams (11/13/19) 63-48 in Lawrence, Kansas.
