Omaha, NE. – The Omaha women's basketball team came up short at Creighton falling 71-51, Saturday afternoon at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Leaders For Omaha
The Mavericks shared the load offensively against the Bluejays,
Alexis Pratt led Omaha with a career-high nine points.
Natalie Bartle and
Elena Pilakouta both finished with seven while
Mariah Murdie hauled in a team-high nine rebounds to go along with three assists and three blocks.
Leaders for Creighton
Lauren Jensen paced the Bluejays with 16 points on an efficient five of eight shooting from the field. Carly Bachelor also chipped in 13 points and led Creighton with seven rebounds. Molly Mogensen also dished out a career-high eight assists.
Team Stats
Omaha shot 38.3% (18-of-47) to Creighton's 43.9% (25-of-57). The Bluejays had the edge behind the three-point line with eight three's to Omaha's three, and out-rebounded the Mavericks 37-25.
Inside the First Quarter
Omaha got on the board first when
Lauren Frost finished in traffic and sunk the accompanying free throw to give the Mavericks the early 3-0 lead.
The Bluejays responded with two three-pointers and took a 14-6 lead into the second quarter.
Inside the Second Quarter
A
Sam Mitchell three followed by
Morgann Gardner's first collegiate basket cut the Bluejay lead to 14-11 with 8:04 left in the quarter. The Mavericks finished the first half with five straight points including a Bartle layup with 48 seconds remaining followed by a steal and breakaway layup from Bartle just before time expired to cut the Creighton lead to 28-21 at the half.
Inside the Third Quarter
Following back-and-forth baskets from both teams for much of the third, the Mavericks once again cut into the Bluejay lead with four quick points at the end of the quarter. Frost picked off a Bluejay outlet pass and drained a three just before the buzzer to make it a 43-39 game in favor of Creighton.
Inside the Fourth Quarter
Bachelor scored eight of the next 14 points for the Bluejays to push the Creighton lead to 57-41.
The Bluejays made three of their eight total three's in the fourth quarter helping push them to the 71-51 win.

The Mavericks are back in action on Wednesday Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. against the Kansas Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.
