Mavericks Keep Streak Alive Sweeping UND

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Mavericks cruised to their fifth consecutive win after a sweep of the Fighting Hawks Thursday night. Omaha held North Dakota to 15 or less points in each set. Sadie Limback led the way with 10 kills for Omaha.

The Mavericks improve to 8-7 overall and remain undefeated in league action at 5-0.

How It Happened
  • UND hung with Omaha to start the first set and even took an 8-7 lead following a three-point run. The Mavericks found their rhythm following two straight kills from Lakyn Graves and Shayla McCormick and went on an 11 -2 run. Limback and Rylee Marshall also recorded kills in the stretch as Omaha jumped out to a 20-12 lead. Graves, Marriah Buss, and Sami Clarkson tallied points for the Mavericks as they went on to win 25-15.
  • The Mavericks went on a 9-1 run early in the second set to capture a 13-5 edge on their way to another set win. Limback and McCormick recorded back-to-back kills, while Marshall tallied two in the run. The Hawks recorded the next four points to cut the lead to four. It was the closest UND would get in the second set as Omaha pulled away for a 25-14 win. 
  • Limback tallied a kill out of the gates for set three sparking six straight Omaha points. Claire Mountjoy added three straight aces in the run. The Mavericks made it an 11-2 game with kills from Marshall and McCormick and an ace from Limback. Limback, Clarkson, McCormick, and Buss recorded six straight points extending the lead to 16-3. UND tried to chip away at the lead, but back-to-back kills from Alexa Blase sealed the win, 25-13.

  • Limback hit .474 leading the Mavericks with 10 kills. She added six digs, a block, and an ace.
  • Jaiden Centeno tallied 14 digs, while Mountjoy added six digs and four aces.
  • Buss recorded five kills, while Graves hits .500 with seven kills and two blocks.
  • McCormick finished with six kills and eight digs. 
  • The Mavericks dominated nearly every stat category vs. the Hawks. They led in kills (38-19), aces (10-2), assists (31-18), and digs (49-38). UND led in blocks (6-3).
