OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks are the only undefeated team in Summit League action following a three-set sweep vs. Oral Roberts Tuesday night. The win extended Omaha's win streak to four matches.
The Mavericks improve to 4-0 in conference play and 7-7 overall.
How It Happened
- The first set saw seven lead changes before Shayla McCormick and Rylee Marshall tallied back-to-back kills to take a 14-12 edge. Omaha pulled away with a 4-0 run highlighted by a kill from Sadie Limback extending the lead 22-16. Another pair of kills from McCormick and Marshall forced set point that was eventually tallied on a service error from ORU. Mavericks win 25-20.
- Omaha recorded the first two points of the second set, but an ace from Aixa Vigil helped know the match 3-3 early. Limback and Marshal sparked a 3-0 run with two straight kills to gain a 7-4 lead. The Mavericks found their groove with a 9-2 run midway through. Marriah Buss tallied the first kill of the stretch, while Limback tallied three late ones to cap the run. Limback, McCormick, and Buss struck for three of the final four Omaha points, while another service error clinched the second set 25-14 Omaha.
- Neither team held more than a one-point lead to start the third set until Buss sparked a four-point run for the Mavericks. Buss, Limback, and Lakyn Graves combined for four kills to take a 14-10 lead. Omaha held a slight edge until Sakira LaCour led the Eagles on a three-point swing to take a 23-22 edge. Service errors from ORU tied the match twice before Buss recorded a kill to knot it one more time, 25-25. Kenedy Schaecher tallied an ace followed by a kill from Buss to take the third set 27-25. Mavericks win 3-0.
