Mavericks With Another Sweep

MACOMB, ILL. - The Mavericks take the win against Western Illinois to put their win streak up to three games. Omaha started the game steady but took off in the third set to sweep the Leathernecks. Sadie Limback led the way with 13 kills for Omaha.

The Mavericks improve to 12-8 overall and hold the number one spot in the conference with a 9-1 record.

How It Happened
  • Western Illinois came out in set one with a 5-0 lead over Omaha. Mavericks called an early timeout and got on the board. A kill from Shayla McCormick and then an ace and backrow attack from Sadie Limback brought the Mavericks within one, 8-7. Mavericks grab the lead and push it to 18-14. Limback and McKenna Ruch tallied points for the Mavericks as they went on to win 25-17.
  • Marriah Buss tallied a kill out of the gate for set two. The Mavericks and Leathernecks made it a back and forth game. Limback put down her tenth kill to put the Maverick lead to 11-9. Omaha kept chipping away with kills last by Buss and Limback to put them up 18-13. Western Illinois was only allowed two more points as the Mavericks sealed the win, 25-15.
  • The Mavericks went on a 6-0 run to start the third set. The Mavericks continued to control the set with another 5-point run. With kills from Limback, Marshall and McCormick, Omaha snagged a hefty 15-4 lead. McCormick put one away and went back to get an ace to extend the game to 18-5, Omaha in the lead. Western Illinois tried to fight back into the game but the Mavericks ended it with a 25-15 win.

  • Clarkson put up 37 assists and added a kill and an ace.
  • Limback hit .650 leading the Mavericks with 13 kills.
  • Mountjoy tallied 15 digs and added an ace.
  • Buss recorded nine kills, while Marshall hits .545 with seven kills and two blocks.
  • Ruch and McCormick both finished with eight kills and McCormick added six digs.

Omaha continues its road trip and heads to St. Paul, Minn. for a match with St. Thomas. It is schedule to start at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.
