OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks added another three-set sweep against Kansas City, tallying their seventh of the season.
McKenna Ruch recorded 10 kills and four blocks. Clarkson notched a double-double on the night with 47 assists and 11 digs.
The Mavericks improve to 11-8 overall and 8-1 in the Summit League.
How It Happened
- The Mavericks started the game with an ace from Sami Clarkson which led into a four-point run. Omaha allowed one kill from Kansas City before going on another run, this time five points. The game reached 9-1 before Kansas City scored again. Sadie Limback put an end to that with a kill to put the Mavericks into double digits, 10-3. The Mavericks spread the offense with kills from Limback, Buss and Ruch to put them in a solid lead 18-8. The Mavericks continued to run the board and ended the set with a kill from Marriah Buss. Omaha takes set one 25-14.
- The second set started out back and forth with kills coming from both sides. The Mavericks took a strong lead after a kill from Limback and two from Marshall, putting them up 6-2. The Roos came back to close that gap making the game 7-5 with the Mavericks leading. Omaha went on a five-kill streak from there, pushing the lead to 12-5. The Mavericks controlled the game until letting Kansas City back in at 23-18, Omaha still leading. Kansas City went on a run from there tying the game 23-23. Limback notched a kill to put the Mavericks at game point, but it was answered with a kill right back from Kansas City. Omaha ended up taking the win 29-27 after a kill from Fairbanks and Buss and an ace from Fairbanks.
- Omaha took the lead starting the third set. Kills from Ruch, Limback, and Fairbanks put the Mavericks in the lead 4-1. Kansas City came back in the game after an ace to tie the game 6-6. Small runs from each team kept the game tight until the Mavericks captured a 20-16 lead. The Mavericks lead became slim after a couple errors bringing the game to 22-20. Omaha allowed Kansas City only two more points before taking set three 25-22.
