Mavericks Fall In Midweek Contest With San Francisco

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks hosted the San Francisco Dons Tuesday night for a non-conference meeting. USF took a 1-0 edge in the first half and secured its second win of the season.

Omaha falls to 4-7-1 overall on the year.

How It Happened
  • In the first 15 minutes of the match, Hugo Kametani put two shots on goal for Omaha. Brandon Keniston made two saves in the right side of the net to keep a clean sheet.
  • Mitch Hammer tallied Omaha's next attempt on target 32 minutes into play, but it was also stopped by Keniston.
  • The Dons fired off their first shot on target in the 40th minute that found the back of the net for a goal. Ferdy Ghafury made a pass behind him to Serra Bracken who put it away for the Dons.
  • Five seconds out of the halftime break Kametani took another shot on target hoping to knot the match, but it was stopped yet again.
  • In the 61st minute, Mikkel Fodstad recorded a shot that deflected off the right post that nearly tied the match. Kenji Mboma Dem collected the rebound and sent a shot immediately following Fodstad's and it went just left of the goal.
  • Mboma Dem fired one more shot on target before time expired, but the Mavericks fell 1-0 to San Francisco Tuesday night.

Inside the Box
  • Kametani led Omaha with four shots, three of which were on goal.
  • Hammer added three shots with one on target, while Mboma Dem and Fodstad finished with two each.
  • The Mavericks led in shots (14-5) and shots on goal (5-3).
  • Lute Lillo Portero played a full game in goal for Omaha. He made two saves and falls to 0-2-0 on the year.
