OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 9 Omaha hockey team continues its home stand this weekend when it hosts No. 2/3 North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30.  Friday's game starts at 7:07 p.m. and will be shown nationally on CBS Sports Network.  Saturday's contest faces off at 6:07 p.m.

Tickets for both games are available at Ticketmaster.com, BaxterArena.com and through the Maverick app.  There will be no walk-up sales at the Baxter Arena box office to eliminate crowds in the arena lobby.

The Mavericks played in front of their fans for the first time this season last weekend, earning a split with Denver.  It was part of a busy week for the Mavericks who had won twice at Colorado College on Monday and Tuesday.

Among the story lines for this weekend's matchup:
  • The Mavericks face the Fighting Hawks in the first two of six meetings this season.  This series was originally scheduled for Dec. 31-Jan. 1 but was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
  • Last season, the two teams split the four-game season series with each team going 1-1-0 at home.
  • In 2019-20, the Mavericks were the only team to beat UND twice and the only visitor to win in Grand Forks, N.D.
  • The Mavericks most recently played on Sunday, a 5-2 win over Denver that snapped a 19-game winless streak against the Pioneers.  Taylor Ward had two goals and an assist to lead the attack.
  • North Dakota enters the weekend in first place in the NCHC while the Mavericks are tied with Minnesota Duluth for third.
  • The Fighting Hawks swept Colorado College at home last weekend, winning 4-1 and 5-0.
