MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Omaha men's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory over Marquette on Friday night.
The Mavericks move to 1-3 on the season while the Golden Eagles drop to 0-1.
Doubles Play
Omaha swept all three matches to clinch the doubles point.
Matt Hulme and
Abdoul Ouattara teamed up to collect a No. 1 match victory while
Hugo Piles Ballester and
Davis Lawley won the No. 2 match. Newcomers
Philip Olsson and
Julian Kenzlers edged out a 7-6 victory in the No. 3 match.
Singles Play
The Mavericks collected a trio of straight-set victories and added a three-set win in singles action to earn four of the six singles points. Ouattara, Piles Ballester and Olsson recorded straight-set victories in the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 matches. Hulme won his first set in the No. 1 match 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the second. The senior fought back to win the decisive third set, 6-3.
