Mavericks Start Six-Game Home Stand with Denver

Story Links

OMAHA, Neb. – Fans of the No. 11 Omaha hockey team will get the first in-person look at their team this weekend when it hosts No. 15/19 Denver on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23-24.  Both games start at 6:07 p.m.

Tickets for both games are available at Ticketmaster.com, BaxterArena.com and through the Maverick app.  There will be no walk-up sales at the Baxter Arena box office to eliminate crowds in the arena lobby.

These will be the first UNO games open to fans.  The Mavericks played 10 games at Baxter Arena in the NCHC Pod in December, but those games were closed to fans due to pod health and safety protocols.  Omaha is one of just two NCHC teams allowing fans in the second half of the season.

Among the story lines for this weekend's matchup:
  • The Mavericks have won four straight games and are unbeaten in their last six (5-0-1) following a sweep at Colorado College on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Omaha is 8-3-1 and 8-3-1-2-0 (1) in the NCHC, putting it in third place.  This is the best start to a season in the Mike Gabinet era.
  • Junior Chayse Primeau leads a balanced lineup, scoring four goals and eight assists for 12 points.  Eight Mavericks have earned eight points or more this season.
  • Sophomore Isaiah Saville ranks third in goals-against average (2.00) and second in save percentage (.930) in the NCHC.
  • Denver enters the game with a record of 5-8-1 overall and 5-8-1-0-1 (1) in the conference, good for sixth.
  • The two teams have played to three straight ties including a pair of deadlocks at Baxter Arena last season.
  • The Pioneers last played on Sunday and Monday, splitting a series with North Dakota at home.
