OMAHA, Neb. — Head coach Derrin Hansen announced Monday the addition of Southwest Mississippi Community College transfer Devin Evans to the Omaha men's basketball program.
Evans, a rising sophomore, is a 6-9, 200-pound forward from Conyers, Ga. He joins the Mavericks after spending his freshman campaign under coach Bryan Bender at Southwest Mississippi, where he averaged 4.5 points and 4.7 rebounds over 19.5 minutes per game and made 15 starts.
Evans completed his high school career at Duluth High School, where he played for coach Cabral Huff. Evans averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game en route to first-team all-region honors.
Evans previously played at Richard Hardy Memorial School, averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds per contest while picking up second-team all-district recognition as a junior.
"We're excited to announce the signing of Devin Evans to our basketball program," Hansen said. "He will provide us with depth at the center position. He's a high character kid with a high motor on the floor to match. We look forward to getting Devin to Omaha, working with him and seeing how to best utilize his skill set in our system."
