Holetz Named Summit League Pitcher of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second-straight week, an Omaha player garnered Summit League Pitcher of the Week honors, as Richie Holetz earned his first-career honor.

The sophomore from Edina, Minn., tossed 6.0 shutout innings with a career-high nine strikeouts on just three hits and three walks allowed in the 8-1 rout of Creighton.

Holetz improved to 2-2 on the season and as Omaha picked up its sixth-straight win this season. He also has a team-best 2.49 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched through four starts. The Mavericks also went 3-0 on the weekend with a Friday doubleheader sweep over Portland the day before.

Omaha now looks ahead to its Summit League-opening series against North Dakota State. The Mavericks and Bison play this Friday-Sunday, March 13-15, at Seymour Smith Park.
