GRIFFITH, Ind. – Omaha women's tennis dropped 4-0 result to UIC Sunday afternoon.
The loss snaps the Mavericks' three-match winning streak as the team falls to 10-4 overall.
"We put a great effort out there today, but UIC was just the better team," said Director of Tennis
Adam Summitt. "We were a bit exhausted from the two matches before and we just ran out of fuel. We didn't give up though, which we are proud of. We will continue to learn and get better."
In doubles, UIC took the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The team of
Madison Gallegos and
Ines Absisan fell 6-0, while
Natalie Lorentz and
Marie Kapelevich dropped a 6-2 decision.
For singles, UIC clinched its next three points to win the match at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Absisan fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, and Crowell dropped a 7-5, 6-1 result at No. 3. At No. 4, Lorentz was defeated 6-4, 6-1.
Omaha has a week off and looks ahead to a pair of matches in Orlando, Fla., against Hope College on Thursday, March 19, followed by a Monday, March 23, match against DePaul.
