OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team posted its first shutout of the season as the Mavericks blanked Saint Louis, 7-0, on Saturday evening at Miracle Hill Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
The victory pushes Omaha to 2-3 overall and 2-0 at home this season.
Doubles Play
The Mavericks grabbed the one-point lead after taking the first two doubles matches of the day.
Nathan Reekie and
Matt Hulme teamed up to post a 6-2 win while
Abdoul Ouattara and
Davis Lawley collected a 6-1 victory to give Omaha the 1-0 advantage heading into singles action.
Singles Play
Hulme doubled the Maverick lead with a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ignacio Tintore in the No. 3 match. Lawley posted a two-set win (6-0, 6-1) over Malik Amao and Ouattara retired Justin Nogalski in two sets (6-0, 6-4) to clinch the match with the third and fourth points for Omaha.
Alvaro Quintana edged Alex Heiden in two sets (6-2, 7-6) while
Nathan Reekie and
Mason Sniatynski had their matches extend to the third set before coming away victorious.
Summitt Says
"This was a good win for us to wrap up the weekend at home. We were able to plug some new faces in the lineup to get the younger guys some experience, so that was a great opportunity for them.
