OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha women's basketball program welcomes North Dakota to Baxter Arena this Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. for the final home game of the regular season.
OPENING TIP
• The day also marks Senior Night for
Rayanna Carter, who is coming off a pair of double-digit scoring performances in her last two games.
• Omaha aims for two-straight wins for the first time since Nov. 30 and Dec. 4 earlier this season. In those games, Omaha topped Mississippi Valley State (78-70) in a neutral game at the Southern Miss Classic and followed up with a victory over Kansas City at home (60-54).
• The Mavericks trail the all-time series 52-9.
• After the win over Purdue Fort Wayne, Omaha currently sits at the No. 8 seed for the league tournament, while UND sits at No. 7.
LAST TIME OUT
Omaha women's basketball picked up its first road win of the season with a 65-51 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon. Omaha snapped a 21-game skid on the road with the victory at Purdue Fort Wayne, which marked the first win in Fort Wayne since Jan. 28, 2016.
Ella Ogier notched her second-career 20-point game, just one shy of her career-high while
Rayanna Carter recorded 14 points and six assists, which were one shy of her career-high.
Kia Wilson had a career-high 13 points with six rebounds in the contest.
CAREER DAY FOR CARTER
Against Western Illinois on the road last week,
Rayanna Carter posted a career-best 21 points on 9-for-15 shooting in the 79-66 loss Feb. 20. Carter now has two 20-plus point efforts this season, with her other happening Feb. 6 against North Dakota State at home, where the Mavericks fell 79-66.
Prior to tomorrow's game, Carter will be honored at mid-court with her parents for the Senior Night celebration. '
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
North Dakota currently holds the No. 7 seed in the league tournament with a 14-13 overall record and a 5-9 mark in Summit League action. The Fighting Hawks enter the matchup with 13-straight wins over Omaha. In the last meeting, North Dakota took a 63-57 win against the Mavericks in Grand Forks.
UND is led by Julia Fleecs' 12.3 points per game, while Jaclyn Jarnot paces the team with 7.1 boards per contest. Head coach Travis Brewster is in his eighth year at the helm of the program with a 127-118 overall record.
