Mavericks Run Past Mastodons For Road Victory, 65-51

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Omaha women's basketball picked up its first road win of the season with a 65-51 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon. 

NOTES 
•    Omaha snapped a 21-game skid on the road with the victory at Purdue Fort Wayne. 
•    The Mavericks also pick up a win in Fort Wayne since Jan. 28, 2016. 
•    Ella Ogier notched her second-career 20-point game, just one shy of her career-high. 
•    Rayanna Carter recorded 14 points and her six assists were one shy of her career-high. 
•    Kia Wilson had a career-high 13 points with six rebounds in the contest. 
•    Ogier's 20 points marks the eighth time this season a Maverick has recorded 20 or more points in a game. 
•    Omaha improves to 7-20 overall and 2-12 in league action, while the Mastodons fall to 5-22 and 1-13 in Summit League play. 

TEAM STATS 
Omaha shot 27-for-50 (54%) from the floor, 1-for-8 (12.5%) from three and 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the charity stripe. The Mastodons were 18-for-60 (30%) shooting, 8-of-22 (36.4%) from deep and 7-of-11 (63.6%) from the foul line. The Mavericks outrebounded Purdue Fort Wayne 35-28 and forced 11 points off 11 Mastodon turnovers. 

INSIDE THE FIRST HALF 
Omaha rocketed off a run late in the first quarter on an Ogier jumper with 2:35 to go in the frame. Omaha rattled off a 6-0 run to close out the quarter and led 14-9 after one. The run continued into the second as Omaha built a 20-9 lead at the 6:28 mark on a Mariah Murdie jumper. The Mavericks had its largest lead of the game at 17 points (30-13) with under a minute to go in the half. After two, Omaha led 30-14 over Purdue Fort Wayne. 

INSIDE THE SECOND HALF 
In the third, Purdue Fort Wayne rallied back on a 21-12 quarter and cut the Maverick lead to just three (36-33) with 3:26 to go in the frame. Omaha, however, held on to a 42-35 lead after three after Ogier knocked a pair of free throws down. The Mavericks were able to run away with the game in the fourth on a 23-16 final quarter. Ogier nailed another jumper and put Omaha back up double digits (47-37) with 7:50 to go. From there, Omaha was able to close out the 14-point win four consecutive free throws made by Mikaela Ekdahl and Carter.
