INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Omaha Athletics and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority will host an NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Regional in 2024 and 2026, the NCAA announced today.
The two regionals were part of a sprawling list of host cities for NCAA championships between 2022-23 and 2025-26.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Sioux Falls Sports Authority to host these events," said
Mike Kemp, Senior Associate Athletic Director. "I had the opportunity to be the NCAA Tournament representative when Sioux Falls hosted the Regional in 2018, and I was incredibly impressed with the way that he city embraced the event.
"When we were approached by the SFSA to partner with them on this bid, it was a no-brainer after watching how well the 2018 event was conducted. The facility is a great place to host these games, so our expectation is that it will be a very successful partnership."
The regionals will be held at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The building is a regularly used hockey venue, serving as the home to the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL, and seats more than 10,500 for hockey.
This will be the first time the Mavericks have hosted an NCAA Championship event since hosting the Division II wrestling championships in 2010 at Sapp Fieldhouse.
"This is a great day for our city" said Thomas Lee, Executive Director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority. "Sioux Falls has proven to be a great destination by having hosted nine NCAA Championships in the past five years. We look forward to welcoming the NCAA and the student-athletes back to Sioux Falls in the years to come."
