OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis program downed Nebraska-Kearney 6-1 in its home opener Friday afternoon at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
In doubles, the team of
Madison Gallegos and
Ines Absisan cruised to a 6-2 win at No.1, while
Marie Kapelevich and
Savanna Crowell secured the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
Gallegos, who recently earned her first-career Summit League Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor, defeated her opponent Zhanel Turarbek 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 in singles action.
Natalie Lorentz picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2, while Crowell secured a three-set win (6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (5)) at No. 4.
The Mavericks also had a three-set win by Kapelevich (6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (3)) at No. 5 and
Clare Crockett won 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 court.
