OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women's tennis earned its third-straight win of the season and remained perfect at home with a 5-2 victory over Saint Louis Saturday afternoon at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
The Mavericks secured the doubles point and singles wins at courts one, two, five and six.
"This is a fantastic team win today," said Director of Tennis
Adam Summitt. "The girls came out focused and were determined to come away with a win. Doubles was a fast start and it helped us get the momentum into singles play. Saint Louis battled us and made us earn it. We look forward to doing it again tomorrow."
In doubles play,
Marie Kapelevich and
Natalie Lorentz got the Mavericks the first win at No. 2, 6-3. The team of
Madison Gallegos and
Ines Absisan clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 1.
Omaha went up 2-0 after
Natalie Lorentz won her match 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Saint Louis was able to even it up at 2-2, but a big victory by
Lillian Tiemeyer (7-5, 7-5) put Omaha back ahead. Gallegos went on to clinch the match point for Omaha at No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-4 win. The Mavericks gained their fifth point with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win by
Savanna Crowell at No. 5.
