Mavericks Continue League Play Against Oral Roberts

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Maverick women's basketball program wraps up the five-game home stand with its second Summit League contest of the season against the visiting Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. Omaha and ORU square off Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. (CST) inside Baxter Arena.
 
OPENING TIP
• Both teams are coming off recent defeats to South Dakota State in their respective Summit League openers.
• Omaha dropped a 68-51 decision at home against the Jackrabbits, while ORU fell 58-44 in Brookings, S.D., on Jan. 2.
Claire Killian led Omaha with 14 points in the loss to SDSU. The junior also hit four threes, which marks her third game this season with four or more shots made from beyond the arc.
• The last time Omaha and Oral Roberts squared off, the Golden Eagles won 65-64 in Tulsa on Feb. 28, 2018.
• The Mavericks aim to erase a four-game skid to the Golden Eagles, with the last win coming on Feb. 11, 2017 (Omaha won 64-49 in Tulsa).

LAST TIME OUT
The Omaha women's basketball program dropped its Summit League opener to South Dakota State, 68-51, Sunday afternoon in Baxter Arena. The trio of Claire Killian, Josie Filer and Ella Ogier combined for 36 of the team's 51 points. Killian led the way with 14, while Filer and Ogier notched 11 apiece. Filer also recorded a team-high six boards in the game. SDSU's Paiton Burckhard nearly had a double-double with a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds on 10-of-16 shooting. Rylie Cascio Jensen was the only other Jackrabbit in double figures with 14 points.
 
SCOUTING ORAL ROBERTS
Oral Roberts and Omaha enter the weekend with identical overall (5-9) and Summit League (0-1) records. The Golden Eagles, however, have won the last four matchups against Omaha. The Mavericks trail the all-time series 8-2.
 
Junior guard Keni Jo Lippe leads The Summit League with 18.0 points per game. Oral Roberts is led by head coach Misti Cussen, who is in her seventh season at the helm. Her overall record is 114-115. The Golden Eagles were selected fourth in the league poll as Lippe was selected to the Preseason Second Team.
