Omaha Plays Host To South Dakota In Mid-Week Tilt

OMAHA, Neb. -- • Omaha women's basketball meets South Dakota for the second half of The Summit League season this Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. 

The game will be broadcasted via 1180 Zone 2, and fans can also follow the action along on Cox 1013 and ESPN3. 

OPENING TIP
Ella Ogier is coming off another big performance in the loss to Purdue Fort Wayne. The freshman guard scored a career-high 21 points with seven rebounds and six boards. 
• In the last meeting with South Dakota, Omaha fell 77-33 in Vermillion back on Jan. 11. 
Mariah Murdie leads the team with 9.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per contest. 
• Omaha trails South Dakota 45-35 in the all-time series history. 
• The last time Omaha defeated South Dakota was in the semifinal round of The Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. 
• That game took place March 5, 2017, as the Mavericks won 64-58 over the Coyotes.

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA
No. 21/18 South Dakota is a perfect 8-0 in league play and sits at 19-2 overall. The Coyotes have four players who average double figures in Ciara Duffy (17.0), Hannah Sjerven (12.4), Chloe Lamb (10.2) and Monica Arens (10.0). 

This season, South Dakota has not had a Summit League opponent come to within 20 points of them. The last time South Dakota lost was to then No.5/6 South Carolina back on Dec. 22, 2019 (73-60). 

THE AUSSIE CAN PLAY
Freshman Ella Ogier has been on a tear in her recent play over the past two games. In the span, Ogier has averaged 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists on .500 shooting and is a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. The Melbourne, Australian native ranks third on the team with 7.8 points per game and leads the squad with 2.2 assists and 1.5 free throws made per game at the line. 

Against Western Illinois on Jan. 24, Ogier neared a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. She followed up with a career-high 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting and six assists.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Maverick continue league play next Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. against North Dakota State inside Baxter Arena. Two days later, Omaha travels to South Dakota State for a 2 p.m. matchup. For more information, visit OMavs.com.
