Omaha Continues Road Swing at South Dakota

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Maverick women's basketball program stays on the road for a battle against No. 22 South Dakota Saturday at 1 p.m. in Vermillion. 

OPENING TIP
• Omaha fell to North Dakota Thursday, Jan. 9, on the road 63-57 after a 20-point fourth quarter effort surged a late comeback. 
• Mariah Murie's 16 second half points and 10 rebounds marked her fourth-career double-double. 
• The Mavericks currently sit at 1-2 this season in league play and search for their first road win of the season. 
Claire Killian leads the team with 9.6 points per game and 1.4 steals per game. 
• Omaha looks for its first win over South Dakota since March 5, 2017. 
• In that game, Omaha defeated the Coyotes 64-58 in the opening round of The Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. 
• USD owns the all-time series 44-35. 

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA
Ranked No. 22 in this week's USA Today Coach's Poll, South Dakota is 14-2 and a perfect 3-0 in league play thus far. The only two losses for the Coyotes were to #22 Missouri State, 74-66 on Nov. 25, 2019, and to No. 5/6 South Carolina, 73-60. The team has victories over Western Illinois. Purdue Fort Wayne and Denver this season in league play. Most recently, USD defeated Denver 104-61 at home on Jan. 5. Ciara Duffy was named The Summit League Preseason Player of the Year and averages a team-best 16.8 points per game, which ranks fourth in the league.
