Late Goals Stun Mavericks in OT Loss

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime on Friday night vs. CSUN at Caniglia Field.
 
The setback drops the Mavericks to 1-5-2 on the season while CSUN improves to 5-3-1.

How It Happened
  • The Mavericks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when Aaron Uribe scored his second goal of the season on a penalty kick.
  • Uribe appeared to have had his second goal of the match in the 37th minute, but the goal was taken off when Uribe was ruled to be offside.
  • CSUN tied the match at one in the 77th minute.
  • The Matadors held off a frantic Maverick attack in the final four minutes of regulation that included four shots and three corner kicks.
  • Miguel Gomez's shot nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 88th minute, but the shot sailed just wide of the net.
  • Andreas Hermansson fed the ball to Marcos Bautista in the closing seconds of the 90th minute, but the diving Matador keeper denied Bautista's game-winning attempt from the right side.
