INSIDE SET ONE
Omaha jumped out to a 5-2 lead early on in the opening set. CSUN was able to cut the Maverick lead to one (15-14) mid-way through the frame, but a 6-1 scoring run by Omaha helped them cruise to a 25-20 opening-set victory off a kill by Sade.
INSIDE SET TWO
CSUN led 7-6 early in the second set, but Omaha took control once again with a large, 7-0 run that increased its lead to 13-7. Another 6-1 Omaha spurt helped the team increase the gap over the Matadors, capped off by kills from Limback and Sade. From there, Omaha took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-14 second-set win.
INSIDE SET THREE
The Matadors refused to waiver and opened the third set with a 6-1 run over Omaha. The Mavericks fought back and tied it at 10-all, but CSUN responded with three-straight points. Omaha was unable to re-gain the lead from there as the Matadors won 25-20 and got on the board to force a fourth set.
INSIDE SET FOUR
A barn-burner of a fourth set fell in favor of CSUN, 27-25. Both teams exchanged the lead until CSUN built a 23-19 lead on the Mavericks after back-to-back Omaha attack errors. With their backs against the wall, Omaha fought back and evened the score up at 23-all, courtesy of an
Alexa Blase kill. CSUN, however, was able to edge Omaha and force a fifth set with the close win.
INSIDE SET FIVE
A close fifth set saw the score tied at 8-all. Out of the CSUN timeout, Omaha went on a blistering, 4-0 run and led 12-8 in the match. Despite a pair of Matador points, Omaha maintained the lead and clinched the match on a Blaschko kill and back-to-back service aces by Leonard.
