Mavericks Topple RV Air Force, 2-1

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Omaha men's soccer team collected its first win of the 2019 campaign with a 2-1 victory at RV Air Force on Saturday evening.
 
The victory pushes the Mavericks to 1-4-2 on the season while the Falcons fall to 1-5-0.

How It Happened
  • The Falcons started quick as Omaha goalkeeper Jeremy Pollard collected a save in the second minute.
  • Air Force sent the ball past the Maverick defense in the 11th minute as Tristan Trager weaved around Pollard, but Pollard's shot went sailing wide of the net.
  • Omaha's Seth Rinderknecht collected the kick from the Falcon keeper and dished to Vlad Jokic before Jokic connected with Andreas Hermansson in stride. Hermansson blasted a strike inside the left post to give the Mavericks the first half lead in the 30th minute.
  • The Mavericks doubled their lead in the 87th minute when Marcos Bautista curled the shot into the net for a 2-0 lead.
  • The Falcons cut the deficit in half in the 90th minute after collecting a loose ball off a corner kick and sneaking one into the goal.

  • Hermansson's goal is the first of his career at Omaha while the late score for Bautista is the second of his career.
