OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's soccer team fell 2-1 at Creighton on Monday night while playing without their top player for much of the match and a man down for the final 52 minutes.
The Mavericks drop to 0-4-2 on the year while the Bluejays improve to 3-2-1.

How It Happened
- Diego Gutierrez nearly opened the scoring in the 11th minute when the junior's attempt blasted off the cross bar off the throw in from Seth Rinderknecht.
- CU's Ziyad Fares broke free down the left side for a one-on-one opportunity vs. Omaha goalkeeper Jeremy Pollard, but a leaping save by the Maverick keeper kept the match scoreless in the 22nd minute.
- Marcos Bautista sent a free kick to the far post that was headed in by Rinderknecht to break the scoreless tie in the 26th minute.
- Bautista nearly doubled the Omaha lead two minutes later, firing a strike three yards outside the box that landed in the arms of the Bluejay keeper.
- The Bluejays tied the match in the 38th minute when Tor Trosten collected a loose ball off the corner kick and snuck one by Pollard and into the back of the net.
- Omaha's Miguel Gomez received a red card in the 39th minute, causing the Mavericks to play a man down for the remainder of the match.
- The Maverick defense held off five Bluejay corner kicks in three-minute span to preserve the 1-1 tie after 65 minutes of play.
- CU's Luke Haakenson netted his second goal of the season in the 88th minute to secure the 2-1 victory for the Bluejays.
