OMAHA, Neb. – The Maverick volleyball program lost a five-set heartbreaker to High Point Sunday afternoon inside Baxter Arena.
After going up two sets, High Point rallied back and won the final three to take the match (25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 11-15).

Sadie Limback matched her career-high of 18 kills for the second time.

Sami Clarkson notched her second double-double in as many games with 51 assists and 10 digs.

Anna Blaschko and
Claire Leonard followed with double-digit kill performances after they recorded 14, 13 and 12 kills apiece, respectively.

INSIDE SET ONE
Omaha jumped out to a 4-2 lead over the Panthers and eventually led by as many as five (17-12). The Panthers clawed back and cut Omaha's lead to just 18-17 late in the set. The Mavericks did not relinquish the lead and was able to take the first set on a kill by Blaschko.
INSIDE SET TWO
The Mavericks continued its early momentum and hurdled out to a 5-2 lead in the second frame. High Point was able to pull together a 6-1 run and lead 10-8 over Omaha. The Panthers eventually built a 17-11 lead and forced an Omaha timeout. Out of the break, Omaha put together a monumental 8-0 run and led 19-17 late. With a tie score of 23-23, Omaha scored two crucial points on a kill from Sade and a Clarkson ace, which put the Mavericks up 2-0 in the match.
INSIDE SET THREE
High Point came out of the locker room and pulled together some runs to take a 12-6 lead. Omaha kept creeping back into the match and eventually tied it up at 17-all mid-way through the set. Up 22-21, Omaha saw its late lead slip away as the Panthers scored four-straight to win the third set 25-22 and force a fourth.
INSIDE SET FOUR
The Panthers built a 14-9 lead through the fourth and was able to control the set. The Mavericks never led as High Point went up 20-14. Omaha answered with four-straight points and cut the deficit at 20-18, but the Panthers did not waiver and were able to squeak out of the fourth set and force a fifth, 25-21.
INSIDE SET FIVE
High Point led 5-3 early, but four consecutive Maverick points sparked by three Sade kills gave Omaha a 7-5 lead. Up 9-7, Omaha saw its lead slip way once again as the Panthers proceeded to go on a 7-1 run and lead 14-10. Despite a late kill from Blaschko, it was not enough as High Point won the match on a kill.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Mavericks hit the road for its final non-league action this weekend, Sept. 20-21, at the GCU Invite. In that tournament, Omaha will face off against Idaho on Friday, followed by a pair of matches against CSUN and Grand Canyon on Saturday. For more information, visit OMavs.com.
