OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha men's basketball players
Mitch Hahn and
Matt Pile have been named to the 2018-19 Summit League Academic All-League Team, the league office announced Wednesday. Pile and Hahn were among five student-athletes selected to this year's team, all of whom are first-time recipients chosen for the honor based on their academic and athletic performances this past season.
Omaha was one of two teams with multiple players represented, joining North Dakota State.
Pile carries a 3.90 grade-point average with a major in medicinal chemistry. A third-team Academic All-American, he is a member of the UNO Dean's List and the Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
The Goddard, Kan., native's sophomore season included averages of 11.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game with 22 double-figure scoring performances and a team-best nine double-doubles. Pile led the Summit League in offensive rebounds (99) and ranked in the top 10 for field goal percentage (second at .587), total rebounds (fourth at 252), rebounds per game (fifth at 7.9) and blocks (eighth at 26).
Hahn is on track to graduate this May with his bachelor's degree in marketing and carries a 3.35 GPA. A product of Fremont, Neb., he is a member of the NABC Honors Court and the Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
Hahn's senior campaign saw him average 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game en route to first-team All-Summit honors. He also earned a spot on the Summit League All-Tournament Team after helping the Mavericks to the championship game for the second time in three years. He tallied 24 double-figure scoring performances and four double-doubles. Hahn finished in the top 10 for defensive rebounds (fourth at 173), total rebounds (seventh at 203), rebounds per game (seventh at 6.3), total points (ninth at 436) and field goals made (ninth at 166).
