PAPILLION, Neb. – Omaha baseball dropped a 9-2 result to Kansas State in the mid-week tilt Tuesday night at Werner Park.
The Mavericks (24-11-1) fall to 0-4 in mid-week games and 0-2 against Kansas State (20-22) this season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Omaha was led by the trio of
Thomas DeBonville,
Max Gamm,
Matt Bondarchuk, who each recorded a hit in order. On the mound,
Jacob Alcorn falls to 0-1 while K-State's Caleb Littlejim improves to 4-1.
Dylan Phillips notched three hits and two runs for the Wildcats.
INSIDE THE INNINGS
Kansas State splurged five runs in the first inning to put Omaha in the early deficit. A two-out homer recorded the first Wildcat run, followed by an RBI single and a two-RBI single on the ensuing at-bats.
Another Wildcat home run in the second plated the sixth run, followed by a triple and a single in the third that made it 8-0 K-State.
All three of Omaha's hits came in order of the sixth inning. DeBonville's leadoff single set up a Gamm single. Bondarchuk then cracked the third-straight single for an RBI that scored DeBonville for the first Maverick run. The second Maverick run came off a
Keil Krumwiede sacrifice fly that cut the deficit to 8-2.
K-State's final run happened in the eighth on a single up the middle for the team's ninth RBI.
