Mavericks Finish Ninth at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Omaha men's golf team posted a ninth-place finish at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The Mavericks shot a final-round score of 299 to finish at 904 for the 54-hole event.  Host Arkansas State won the event with a score of 857.  Louisiana Monroe was second at 873, and Eastern Kentucky took third at 879.

Senior Sam Musch, in his first tournament of the season, led the Mavericks in scoring with a three-round total of 223.  He shot a one-over score of 73 in the final round and finished in a tie for 22nd in the field of 67 golfers.

Witchayapat Sinsrang had UNO's lowest round of the final day, an even-par 72, to finish at 225 for the event, good for a tie for 26th.  He had three birdies on the back nine to help him reach level par.

Cole Christain was third on the team and tied for 44th overall with a score of 230.  He closed the tournament with a round of 79.

Nick Kagy tied for 52nd, posting a score of 233 that included a final round of 76.  He was one stroke ahead of teammate Thirawat Chantrakantanond who carded a final round of 78 to finish at 234, good for a tie for 55th.

Jonah Wright, playing as in individual, finished with a round of 80 to post a total score of 238.

The Mavericks return to action next week at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate at Lipscomb on Monday and Tuesday, April 8-9.
