OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team, in conjunction with the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, announced its 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday.

The Mavericks will play 36 games during their 23rd season including 12 non-conference games and 24 conference games.  This will be Omaha's seventh season as charter members of the NCHC.

"Our schedule for the upcoming season is another challenging mix of non-conference opponents in addition to the always tough NCHC schedule," said Mike Kemp, Senior Associate Athletic Director and the sport administrator for hockey.

"We are fortunate to have two extra games on our schedule this year with our trip to Alaska Anchorage in November.  Our players will face an exciting challenge every weekend, and it should make for some great games either at home or on the road."

Omaha's home non-conference schedule begins with a season-opening series against Alabama Huntsville of the WCHA on Oct. 11-12.  The Mavericks will welcome Wisconsin of the Big Ten back to Omaha for the first time since 2013 when they host the Badgers on Nov. 8-9.

UNO's other non-conference home series will be Dec. 21-22 when it hosts independent Arizona State.

The Mavericks will play non-conference road series at Ohio State of the Big Ten on Oct. 18-19; at Alaska Anchorage of the WCHA on Oct. 31-Nov. 1; and at Maine of Hockey East on Jan. 3-4.  The series with the Black Bears will be the first since the 1998-99 season, UNO's second season of college hockey.

Omaha will open the NCHC schedule on Nov. 15-16 when it visits Western Michigan.  The Mavericks will host their first home NCHC series the following weekend when they welcome Miami on Nov. 22-23.

UNO's other home conference series include defending national champion Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 6-7; NCAA Frozen Four participant Denver on Jan. 17-18; Western Michigan on Jan. 31-Feb. 1; Colorado College on Feb. 21-22; and North Dakota on March 6-7.

Due to the NCHC's scheduling metric, the Mavericks do not host NCAA Tournament participant St. Cloud State and will not travel to Denver in 2019-20, playing both teams twice each.  They will play four games (two home/two road) against all other members.

Season tickets for the 2019-20 season will go on sale in early May.
