Omaha Set to Host Creighton on Tuesday

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha softball team returns to Westside Field at Westbrook for two-straight home games that begins with a midweek contest against Creighton on Tuesday, April 16 at 4 p.m.

Leading Off
•    The 2019 campaign marks the 50th season for the Omaha softball program, with the Mavericks owning a 67.1 winning percentage as a program and its their 1,500th win – a 7-6 win over Saint Francis in 11 innings – last season.  The Mavericks own a 1516-774-5 overall record.
•    The Mavericks are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Purdue Fort Wayne, falling to the Mastodons 6-5 in eight innings, on Saturday (April 13), before splitting a doubleheader later that day.  Omaha opened the day with a 9-4 victory, before falling 6-4 in the day's final contest.
•    The Mavericks are 4-35 overall and 2-10 in Summit League action.
•    Tuesday is the second meeting in the Division I era between Omaha and Creighton.  Last time out, the Mavericks topped the Blue Jays 8-5 at the CU Sports Complex.  CU leads the all-time series 27-11.
•    Lauren Lauvetz hit .444 for the weekend (4-for-9) with a double and an RBI.  Emily Klosterman and Alexa Sedlak each drove in four runs.
•    Sydney Hampton appeared in all three games over the weekend, recorded 15 strikeouts.  Halley Jones picked up the win for the Maviercks, allowing four runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
•    For the season, Dargy leads the Mavericks at the plate with a .275 average with eight doubles, three homers and 13 RBI.
•    Sedlak raised her average to .255 with three homers, four doubles and 14 RBI, while Lexi Burkhardt is batting .253 with seven doubles and seven RBI.
•    Janae Cameron leads the team with 15 RBI.
•    Natalie Mostek leads the team with six stolen bases.
•    Sydney Hampton has a team-low 5.59 ERA in 86.1 innings.  Hampton is 1-14 with a save and 53 strikeouts.
•    Ryanne Millington is 2-11 with a 6.63 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 94.0 innings.
•    Halley Jones has made 21 appearances with a 1-9 record, 6.88 ERA and 30 strikeouts.
•    Omaha finished the 2018 season 21-30 overall and 5-9 in the Summit League.
•    Amanda Eberhart enters her first season at the helm of the Omaha softball program.
•    The Mavericks were picked fifth in the Preseason Summit League Coaches Poll.
•    Senior Natalie Mostek and sophomore Sydney Hampton were recognized as Players to Watch in the Summit League.
•    This season's roster is comprised of 12 returning letterwinners, including seven upperclassmen, and 10 newcomers.

Scouting the Creighton Bluejays
Creighton is 14-18 overall and 3-9 in Big East play.  The Bluejays took two of three games from Villanova last weekend in Villanova, Pa.  CU is 11-9 in non-conference action this season.

Ashley Cantu leads the Bluejays at the plate with a .371 average with three home runs, four doubles and 14 RBI.  Kiara Mills and Mileah McKelvy each have six homers and 21 RBI.

Laura Roecker has a team low 3.20 ERA with a 7-8 record over 70.0 innings of work.  Logan Black is 2.6 with a 3.89 ERA over 81.0 innings.
