Fighting Irish Top Mavericks, 7-0

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Omaha men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback against No. 27 Notre Dame on Sunday in Notre Dame, Ind.

The Mavericks are now 8-15 overall, while the Fighting Irish improved to 16-13.

Omaha lost two doubles matches to give Notre Dame the doubles point.  Davis Lawley and Nathan Reekie fell 6-1 to Grayson Broadus and Matt Gamble on the first court.  Hugo Piles Ballester and Ethan Henry dropped a 6-1 decision to Daniel Rayl and Johnathan Small on court three.

Notre Dame then swept all six singles matches.  On court one, Abdoul Ouattara fell 6-4, 6-3 to Axel Nefve.  Reekie dropped the first set to Rayl 6-4 and then rallied to take the second 6-4 before dropping the third set super tiebreaker on court three.  Lawley also lost a split set match to Paul Gota on court four 8-5, 4-6, 1-0.

Omaha concludes the regular season next week with a pair of matches in Colorado.  The Mavericks visit Northern Colorado on Thursday, April 18, at 11 a.m. (CT) before wrapping up Summit League play at Denver on Friday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m.
