OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis program fell 6-1 against North Dakota Friday afternoon at Miracle Hill Tennis Courts.
The Mavericks fall to 5-16 overall and 1-3 in league action, while the Fighting Hawks improve to 11-10 and 3-1 in The Summit League.
Omaha won the doubles point with a win at No. 1 doubles (6-1) from
Natalie Lorentz and
Marie Kapelevich. The point was clinched at No. 3, when
Ines Absisan and
Emily Behling won in a tiebreaker (7-6 (10-4)) to help the team go up 1-0.
North Dakota was able to bounce back and sweep the singles play. Absisan dropped a three-set match (6-2, 4-6, 1-0) at No. 1, while
Janelle Wilson was topped at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1).
Lorentz fell in three sets at No. 3 (7-5, 2-6, 1-0) and Kapelevich dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match at No. 4. On court No. 5, Behling fell 6-3, 6-4, while
Savanna Crowell dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 6.
The Mavericks close out the regular season with a Summit League matchup against South Dakota. The match is set for Wednesday, April 17, at 3 p.m. Competition is set to take place at Koch Tennis Center. For more information, visit OMavs.com.
