Mavericks, Mastodons Set for Summit League Showdown

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha softball team continues its Summit League road trek this weekend with a trip to Purdue Fort Wayne.  The two teams will play a single game on Friday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

Leading Off
•    Omaha concludes its seven-game road trek this weekend with a three-game set at Purdue Fort Wayne.
•    This season, the Mavericks are 3-33 overall (1-8 Summit League), while the Mastodons are 6-27 (1-8).
•    UNO leads the all-time series 10-3 and has taken nine of the last 10 in the series.
•    Last weekend, Omaha dropped a doubleheader to South Dakota, 5-4 and 4-0, on Saturday, before falling 9-1 in six innings on Sunday.
•    Lexi Burkhardt hit .500 for the weekend (4-for-8) with a double to lead the Mavericks. Natalie Mostek drove in two runs. Lauren Lauvetz, Emily Klosterman and Janae Cameron each drove in a run.
•    For the season, Dargy leads the Mavericks at the plate with a .281 average with eight doubles, three homers and 11 RBI.
•    Burkhart has raised her average to .260 with six doubles and four RBI.
•    Alexa Sedlak is hitting .244 with four doubles, two homers and 10 RBI.
•    Cameron leads the team with 15 RBI.
•    Natalie Mostek leads the team with six stolen bases.
•    Sydney Hampton has a team-low 5.90 ERA in 80.2 innings.  Hampton is 1-13 with a save and 42 strikeouts.
•    Ryanne Millington is 2-11 with a 6.39 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 92.0 innings.
•    Halley Jones has made 20 appearances with a 0-9 record and 26 strikeouts.
•    Omaha finished the 2018 season 21-30 overall and 5-9 in the Summit League.
•    Amanda Eberhart enters her first season at the helm of the Omaha softball program.
•    The Mavericks were picked fifth in the Preseason Summit League Coaches Poll.
•    Senior Natalie Mostek and sophomore Sydney Hampton were recognized as Players to Watch in the Summit League.
•    This season's roster is comprised of 12 returning letterwinners, including seven upperclassmen, and 10 newcomers.

Scouting the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons
Purdue Fort Wayne is 6-24 overall and 1-8 in Summit League action.  The Mastodons dropped two of three games against North Dakota last weekend.  Purdue Fort Wayne won the first game of the series 7-3 before it dropped the final two games 6-2 and 4-1.

Lacey Wilzbacher and Morganne Denny lead the Mastodons at the plate.  Wilzbacher is hitting .333 with six doubles and 11 RBI.  Denny leads the team with five home runs and 15 RBI.  Lauren Watson is the team-leader with seven stolen bases.

Lauren McConnell has a team-best 3-8 mark with a 5.95 ERA and 31 strikeouts.  Shaina Eyre has a team-low 3.72 ERA over 94.0 innings pitched.
