Murdie Earns Summit All-Newcomer Honors

OMAHA, Neb. – Freshman Mariah Murdie earned Summit League All-Newcomer Team honors, the league office announced Thursday.

Murdie, a native of Meriden, Kan., earns her first all-league award after averaging 8.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocked shots per game.  She ranks eighth in the league for blocks (22), 14th for total rebounds (152) and 15th for defensive rebounds (108) and rebounds per game (5.2).  In league play, Murdie shot .480 from the field and was the seventh-best rebounder with 6.0 rebounds per game.  

Murdie scored a season-best 24 points at Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 24) and grabbed an Omaha Division I program-best 18 rebounds against Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 16).  She also recorded a pair of double-doubles during league play.

The selection of the Summit League teams is determined by votes from the coaches and media relations contacts from each of the nine schools in the league along with select members of media.
