INSIDE THE INNINGS
The Mavericks saw their first runs scored in the bottom of the first on Palensky's single-RBI that scored Lombardi and Parker Smejkal reaching first on an error that was able to plate Braden Rogers.

Up 2-0, Omaha was able to get out of a jam in the top of the fifth as Western loaded the bases, but left two runners stranded. Later that inning, the Mavericks increased their lead at 5-0 with three runs scored off of Brett Bonar's sacrifice fly, along with singles from Smejkal and Thomas DeBonville. The sixth Omaha run came in the next inning on Palensky's sacrifice fly, while the final two came in the seventh on a Rogers fielder's choice and a Krumwiede single.

Up 8-0, Western Illinois found the scoreboard with a run in the eighth and ninth innings on a fielder's choice and a single, but the gap was too large as Omaha was able to close it out for the win.
