OMAHA, Neb. -- Omaha men's basketball coach
Derrin Hansen has been named the 2019 NABC District 12 Coach of the Year as selected by his peers, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Friday.
Hansen steered the Mavericks to a second-place finish in the Summit League's 2018-19 regular-season standings after being voted eighth in the league's preseason coaches' poll. It marked the program's highest finish since joining the league in 2012-13 and its third top-three showing in the last four years.
Omaha capped the season at 21-11 (13-3 Summit League), setting Division I program records for wins in a season and league wins. Hansen, who also was tabbed the 2019 Summit League Coach of the Year, guided the Mavericks to their second Summit League Championship title game in the last three seasons and coached seniors
