PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Omaha men's golf team finished in a tie with Hawaii for 13th at the GCU Invitational at Grand Canyon on Saturday.
The Mavericks shot rounds of 286, 298 and closed with a round of 289 on Saturday to finish at 873 for the 54-hole tournament at the GCU Golf Course. UMKC won the event with a score of 829. UT Rio Grande Valley was second at 843, and Texas El Paso and Missouri tied for third, one stroke back.
Witchayapat Sinsrang led the Mavericks in scoring with a three-over total of 216. That included a two-over final round score of 73. He finished in a tie for 37th in the field of 112 golfers from 18 teams.
Nick Kagy was second on the team and tied for 48th overall with a score of 217, four over par. He shot a one-under round of 70 on day two.
Kagy was two strokes ahead of teammate
Cole Christain who finished with a score of 219 that included a final round of 72. He tied for 63rd.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond was fourth on the team and tied for 80th overall with a total of 223. He closed the tournament with a round of 74.
Parker Waters completed the scoring for the Mavericks with a 54-hole total of 235.
The Mavericks return to action at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate at Arkansas State on Monday and Tuesday, April 1-2.
