Mavericks Visit Denver For Regular-Season Finale

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's basketball team visits Denver for its regular season finale this Saturday, March 2.  Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. (CT) at Hamilton Gymnasium.  Links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.

The Opening Tip
• Omaha is 8-20 overall and 2-13 in Summit League play, following a 65-64 defeat at Oral Roberts on Thursday.
• Oral Roberts scored the game-winning basket with four seconds left in regulation.
Omaha had one last chance to win the game, but the Mavericks were called for an offensive foul that gave ORU the victory.
• Freshman Elena Pilakouta had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.  
•    Freshman Josie Filer added 13 points, six rebounds two assists and a blocked shot.  
•    Freshman Mariah Murdie went for 11 points and five boards.
•    Senior Kalen Phillips chipped in eight points, including a 6-for-6 effort at the line.
•    Freshman Sophie Johnston scored eight points, three assists and two boards.
• Cater paces the Mavericks with 9.5 points and 1.8 assists per game.
• Filer, Murdie and Pilakouta are the top rebounders for UNO this season.  The trio combine for 18.2 boards per game.
• The quintet of Carter, Filer, Killian, freshman Sophie Johnston and freshman Pilakouta have started 26 of Omaha's 28 games this season.

Scouting the Denver Pioneers
Denver is 16-12 (9-6 Summit League) on the season.  The Pioneers have won two straight, including a 94-85 decision on Thursday at Western Illinois.  Madison Nelson scored 24 points, including a 10-for-12 effort at the free throw line.  Courtney Smith added a double-double off the bench with 22 points and 13 boards.  Claire Gritt chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds.  

DU, which finished 16-14 (7-7 Summit League) a year ago, was picked to finish fifth in the league's preseason poll.  Saturday's game will be the Pioneers' final home game, and DU is 12-2 at home this season.

Head coach Jim Turgeon is in her second season at Denver with a 32-27 record and is 86-37 in 17 seasons.

Series History
Omaha leads the all-time series with Denver 8-5 and 6-5 in the Division I era.  DU has won the last three games, including a 95-68 win inside Baxter Arena earlier this season.
