Hahn’s Career Night Not Enough As Omaha Falls at ORU, 84-80

TULSA, Okla. -- The Omaha men's basketball team saw its six-game win streak snapped Thursday night, falling 84-80 to Oral Roberts at the Mabee Center. The Mavericks are now 18-10 (12-3 Summit League) with one game remaining, while the Golden Eagles improve to 11-20 (7-9) with their regular-season slate complete.

Leaders for Omaha
Mitch Hahn scored a career-high 35 points on 15-of-21 shooting with four 3-pointers to lead all scorers, hitting 10-of-13 from the floor for 22 points in the second half alone. The senior torched his previous career mark of 24 set against Western Illinois on Jan. 14, 2017.

Zach Jackson added 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists on the night. The performance makes him just the second Maverick in program history with 1,500 career points and 500 career rebounds to his credit and pushes him into fifth all-time for scoring in the Omaha record books.

Matt Pile added 11 points, a team-leading eight boards and three blocks.

Leaders for Oral Roberts
Emmanuel Nzekwesi had a double-double with 25 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, finishing 10-of-14 from the field. DeShang Weaver (15 points), Francis Lacis (11) and Kaelen Malone (10) also tallied in double figures.

Team Stats
Omaha shot .486 (35-of-72) to ORU's .534 (31-of-58) from the floor and .500 (5-of-10) to the Golden Eagles' .882 (15-of-17) at the line. The two teams were even on the glass, 34-34, and were nearly identical on points in the paint, with a slight Omaha edge, 34-32. The Mavericks committed a season-low three turnovers.

Inside the First Half
ORU shot .552 (16-of-29) in the opening half and took their largest lead of the game at 35-22 after Malone punctuated a 7-0 run. But Omaha outscored ORU 12-4 after the final media timeout, creeping within five by the break at 39-34.

Inside the Second Half
The Mavericks continued with 10-of-13 shooting to start the second half, with a Pile dunk at the end of an 8-0 run putting them on top 50-48.

Four straight buckets from Hahn and another from Wanjang Tut brought it to 66-61 with just under nine left, and the advantage extended to 73-64 on a Pile tip-in and a layup and a triple from Hahn with just over six remaining.

ORU responded with a 14-2 run from there, with three straight foul shots from Lacis putting the Golden Eagles ahead 78-75 with 2:27 to go. The Mavericks managed to get within two at 82-80 on a Hahn trey with 17 seconds left, but it was the closest Omaha would get.
