Omaha Takes on Oral Roberts Thursday

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's basketball team visits Oral Roberts this Thursday, Feb. 28.  Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. and links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.

The Opening Tip
• Omaha is 8-19 overall and 2-12 in Summit League play, following a 55-48 defeat at North Dakota State last Saturday.
• NDSU outscored UNO 29-14 in the fourth quarter.
• Senior Kalen Phillips led the Mavericks with 11 points off the bench.  Phillips shot 4-for-8 from the field.
• Freshmen Josie Filer and Mariah Murdie each grabbed nine rebounds.  Filer added three blocked shots, while Murdie chipped in nine points.
• Sophomore Claire Killian added nine points, four boards and two steals.
• Cater paces the Mavericks with 9.9 points and 1.8 assists per game.
• Filer and Murdie are the top two rebounders for UNO with 7.7 and 5.3 boards per game.
• The quintet of Carter, Filer, Killian, freshman Sophie Johnston and freshman Pilakouta have started 25 of Omaha's 27 games this season.
• Omaha ranks third in the league in points per game allowed (65.9 ppg).
• The Mavericks are fourth in 3-point field goal defense (32.7 pct).
• As a team, UNO ranks in the top five in seven different rebounding categories.

Scouting the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
Oral Roberts is 16-12 (9-6 Summit League) on the season.  The Golden Eagles have won three straight games, including a 92-85 decision last Saturday at Western Illinois.  Sarah Garvie scored 26 points, while Lakota Beatty chipped in 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

ORU, which finished 17-13 (7-7 Summit League) a year ago, was picked to finish fourth in the league's preseason poll.  Saturday's game will be the Golden Eagles' final home game, and ORU is 8-5 at the Mabee Center this season.

Head coach Misti Cussen is in her seventh season at Oral Roberts with a career mark of 107-105.

Series History
Omaha trails the all-time series against Oral Roberts 9-2.  ORU leads the series since UNO's transition to Division I 8-1.  The Golden Eagles defeated the Mavericks 71-56 at Baxter Arena on Dec. 30, 2018.
