SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Omaha men's golf team opened its spring season with a 16th-place finish at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor on Sunday.
The Mavericks carded a team score of 296 over the final 18 holes of the 54-hole event hosted by William and Mary. They finished with a three-round total of 905. South Carolina Beaufort won the event with a score of 872, edging Austin Peay which finished second at 874. North Dakota State took third at 875.
Witchayapat Sinsrang was Omaha's top scorer with a total score of 223. He shot 74 in the final round and finished in a tie for 29th in the field of 95 golfers from 18 teams.
Nick Kagy shot 73 on Sunday to finish at 225 which was good for second on the team and a tie for 43rd overall. He was two strokes ahead of teammate
Cole Christain who also carded 73 in the final round to close at 227. He tied for 54th.
Thirawat Chantrakantanond closed with a score of 76 to finish at 230, good for a tie for 77th.
Kellen Rossman finished the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 240, a total that included a final round of 78.
The Mavericks are back in action at the Sacramento State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5.
