LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Omaha baseball program dropped an 11-0 contest to Southern California in the second game of the series, Saturday afternoon.
Thomas DeBonville went 1-for-2 at the plate with a hit and a walk, while
Keil Krumwiede and
Breyden Eckhout also recorded a hit apiece.
The bottom of the fourth put Omaha in an eight-run hole. USC loaded the bases with no outs, and followed up with their first run off a walk. The next Trojan run came off a single to center field for an RBI. That preceded a double to right center, which brought home two more RBI and made it 4-0. A sacrifice fly scored the fifth run and another single scored two more and made it 7-0. The final run of the inning came off a single-RBI and made it 8-0.
Later on in the bottom of the seventh, USC plated three more. The ninth run came off a fielder's choice that advanced a runner from third who tripled earlier. The Trojans earned double-digit runs off a ground out that plated the runner from third, followed by an Omaha wild pitch that made it 11-0.
Omaha closes out the three-game series with a 2 p.m. (CST) matchup with the Trojans tomorrow.
